This Valentines we’ve been given the best present of all – another encounter with the gorgeous Christian Grey. Although this is our final meeting with him, it definitely doesn’t disappoint with its steamy action-packed scenes. Like the previous movies, we get more of the play room and a lot more saucy scenes that will guarantee to get you and your friends heart racing. Therefore, it is not a surprise that Fifty Shades Freed is set to be the highest-grossing on valentines day.

The Fifty Shades films have been adapted from E L James’ erotic novels which excited many women who brought her book. Fifty Shades of Grey, the first book has topped best-seller lists around the world. It has sold over 125 million copies worldwide by June 2015 and it has been translated into 52 languages. It has also set the record in the United Kingdom as the fastest-selling paperback of all time and James is branded as one of books world’s top earners.

E L James got her inspiration from Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in the Twilight series. After reading Stephenie Meyer’s books, James was inspired to write her own material and she posted her own erotic take on the novels on Fanfiction.net. Therefore, Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, the two main characters in Fifty Shades are basically Edward Cullen and Bella Swan of Twilight. Edward Cullen who is a mysterious and good looking vampire is similar to Christian Grey a mysterious and good looking CEO. In regards to Bella and Ana, they are both, understated, pretty but intimidated by the men who they fall in love with. They are also clumsy and constantly question what their male counterpart sees in them.

At the beginning of the fifty shades journey, James posted her work on a website she created called 50shades.com. Within one year she had sold roughly 30,000 copies in e-book downloads. With the popularity of the book, publishers were keen to offer a contract and soon after she signed with Random House’s Vintage Books.

With the success of the books, the film series emerged in 2015 and is just as successful. The films starred the dishy Jamie Dornan who plays the gorgeous Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson who plays the shy college senior Anastasia Steele.

Fifty Shades of Grey

The first of the trilogy starts with Anastasia Steele, a pretty literature student who steps in for her roommate Kate Kavanagh, to interview the billionaire Christian Grey. Greys, charm, outstanding and even intimidating nature draws the innocent and naive Anna in. Similarly, Grey cannot resist Ana’s beauty and independence. However, he only wants her on his own terms. Ana soon discovers the particular tastes of Christian Grey and his need to control everything. Throughout the movie, Christian persists Ana to sign a BDSM contract, And eventually asks Christian how extreme a relationship with him could be. Christian fulfils Ana’s request and Ana realises that they are incompatible. Devastated, she breaks up with Christian and returns to the apartment she shares with Kate.

Fifty Shades Darker

In the second movie, Ana looks like she has moved on and begins a new job as an assistant to Jack Hyde. However, she unexpectedly runs into Christian at the opening of her friend Jose Rodriguez’s photography exhibit. She is shocked to hear that Christian bought all of Jose’ portraits of Ana and makes it clear to her that he wants her back. She only agrees, but on her terms of no rules, no punishments, and no more secrets terms. However, she becomes unconvinced when she sees Christians need to be a dominant, even though he insists that he wants to change. Christian later asks Ana to marry him, but she needs time before accepting. Ana though accepts his hand in marriage after realising she loves him when he went missing due to an engine failure on his helicopter.
