Hen Party Cocktail Class Newcastle
Newcastle doesn’t need selling as a night out. The Quayside, the Bigg Market and Collingwood Street are within ten minutes’ walk of each other. The harder question is what to do at the apartment between check-in and the first bar, which is where two hours with a mixologist comes in.
The basics, briefly
One professional mixologist comes for two hours. In that time every guest makes three cocktails, plays a few games and, to finish, joins a team to compete over who makes the best one. The alcohol, the mixers, the equipment, the glasses, the fruit and decorations, the ice and even the stirrers are part of the price, which starts at £35 per person.
Bookings are for a minimum of 10. A group of seven is welcome, pays for 10 and shares the three extra sets of cocktails. Let us know when booking how the mixologist should dress: fully clothed, or in the butler uniform.
Quayside apartments, Jesmond terraces and Tyneside flats
Most hen accommodation in Newcastle is either a serviced apartment in the city centre or on the Quayside, or a large terraced house in Jesmond, Heaton or Sandyford. Apartments mean a secure entrance and usually a lift, so give us the block name, the floor and how to get buzzed in. The Quayside sits at the bottom of a steep bank below the city centre and stopping places down there are limited, so say where a car can pull up.
In Jesmond and Heaton, watch for the Tyneside flat. What looks like a terraced house is two flats, and the upper one has its own front door opening onto a steep staircase. Tell us if that’s yours. The owner needs to have agreed, and there must be a private room for the mixologist to change.
North and south of the Tyne
The mixologist travels on both banks of the river and out to the coast. Gateshead, Gosforth, Wallsend, Ponteland, Cramlington, Washington, South Shields, Tynemouth and Whitley Bay are all included.
Hexham, Alnwick and the Northumberland coast up at Bamburgh are included as well. The instant quote gives the exact price for your postcode, date and group size.

Match days, the night out and a butler
St James’ Park is right in the city centre, so on a home match day the pubs fill early and roads near the ground are slow either side of the game. After the class it’s a short walk or taxi to the Quayside, the Bigg Market or Collingwood Street, or to Osborne Road if you’re staying in Jesmond.
For a host as well as a bartender, add a butler from £150. Over two hours he greets everyone, serves the cocktails as they’re made, joins the photos and runs games.
How to request drinks and change details is set out on the cocktail masterclass page.

Newcastle Cocktail Class: Quick Answers
We’re here on Great North Run weekend. Will a Sunday class be a problem?
The run closes roads across Newcastle and Gateshead on the Sunday, the Tyne Bridge among them. A Saturday class avoids it altogether. If Sunday is the only option, go for late afternoon and tell us the best way in.
We’re staying in Tynemouth and getting the Metro into town. Is the coast covered?
Yes. We go to Tynemouth and Whitley Bay, and you can get a price for your postcode there from the instant quote.
It’s an upstairs Tyneside flat with a galley kitchen. Is there room?
Use whichever room has the most clear surface, be it a table or a worktop. The mixologist is there 20 to 30 minutes early to set up, so there’s time to work round a tight space.
