Hen Party Life Drawing Glasgow
Glasgow suits life drawing better than most cities for one plain reason: the tenement flat. A West End front room with a high ceiling and a bay window holds a big group and gives good light to draw by. Merchant City apartments and hotel rooms work too, with a bit more shuffling of furniture.
The session at a glance
- 90 minutes is the standard class, split evenly between drawing and butler service; two hours is a £50 upgrade.
- One male model takes the session himself. There’s no tutor and no drawing experience is needed.
- In the drawing half he holds three or four nude poses. Partly clothed is possible on request.
- In the butler half he wears butler attire, serves your drinks, hosts games, names his favourite drawing and gets in the group photos.
- A4 paper, pencils, rubbers and sharpeners are supplied for up to 20 guests, but not boards, so find books or trays to lean on.
- The price starts from £15 per person on a group of up to 20.
- Mixed and LGBT groups are welcome. Let us know at least 14 days ahead if men are coming.
Tenements, Merchant City apartments and privacy
In Hyndland, Partick or Hillhead, the usual hen let is a tenement flat reached by a shared close. The front room is normally the biggest in the flat, so set chairs in an arc with their backs to the bay and the light will fall on the model. Tall windows are the catch. Tenements face each other across the street, and without blinds or curtains the flat opposite gets the same view you do. Merchant City and Finnieston apartments are more often open plan with a balcony door, which needs covering as well. Set aside a bedroom for him to change in.

We’re on the second floor of a tenement with a shared close. How does he get in without spoiling the surprise?
He gets in touch 5 to 10 minutes before arriving and phones again from the street. Have one person keep their phone on and buzz him in while the bride is kept busy in another room.
Two of the group are coming through from Edinburgh and might drop out. Can we change numbers?
Numbers can change up to 14 days before the date. Inside 14 days they can’t go down, though you can email to ask about adding people.
We’re going to a concert at the Hydro that night. Is an afternoon class realistic?
Yes, provided you leave slack. Plan for the class to finish at least an hour before you need to set off for Finnieston, in case of delays.
